Just one of the Kids

When we got Tripper almost 2 years ago, we chose a Springer Spaniel because we wanted a dog that was good with the kids and good with the lake. Little did we know just how good he'd be with both. When we are at the lake, he really does swim and play just like one of the kids. He is jumping on the mats, swimming around, getting back on the mats, climbing the ladder, and playing so hard that he basically sleeps for 2 days straight after we get home. This pup definitely loves to swim with his kids, and they love to swim with him too.

I also can't believe how good he is with them both in and out of the water. He lets them climb on him, pull on him, dress him up as a super hero and even try to ride him. Actually, today both boys were trying to ride him at the same time.

What is just as cute as seeing them swim together is seeing them snuggle up and fall asleep together. I am so grateful that we found the perfect dog for our kids!

Birthday Dad

Birthdays start to seem less and less eventful the older we get. This year, Billy had probably the least eventful birthday of his life. He worked all day, and then came home to an empty house, until he came to the airport at 11 pm to pick me up. Believe me, I feel like a huge heel and the worst wife ever for leaving on a work trip during the week our kids were at the Lake with his mom and dad. Fortunately, we were able to head to the lake on Friday to spend the weekend with the rest of our clan.

Despite not really doing themed birthday parties at our age, there definitely seemed to be a "the Blues are the Stanley Cup Champions and Billy's team won the north American hockey tournament for their league" theme.

First, the kids decorated his birthday cake, and were sure to add the "Go Blues" at the end.

Then, he decided to take his team's hockey trophy on some interesting adventures.

So, by the end of the weekend, I think it's safe to say he had a pretty good time celebrating 37 years. There's nothing like celebrating at the Lake!
